84 Jonathan David KAA Gent, Lille OSCVancouver's BC Place watched him score three times on 18 June 2026 as Canada beat Qatar 6-0, the first World Cup hat-trick by a North American in 96 years. He is Canada's record scorer with 42 goals, won Ligue 1 with Lille in 2021 and the Trophée des Champions that year, took the 2019 Gold Cup Golden Boot and was named CONCACAF Player of the Year for 2024-25. 83 Dwayne De Rosario San Jose Earthquakes, Houston DynamoThe 2001 MLS Cup went to golden goal, and in the 96th minute he shifted the ball onto his right foot and curled it off the far post and in, winning San Jose the title and the match's MVP award. Canada's 2000 Gold Cup belongs to him too, along with four MLS Cups, the 2011 MVP award and Golden Boot, a second MLS Cup MVP in 2007, and 22 goals in 81 caps. CAM2000–11

5 CF 82 Craig Forrest Ipswich Town, Colchester United · 2× Hall of FameCanada reached the 2000 Gold Cup knockouts on a coin toss, then Forrest pushed away a first-half penalty in the 1-0 semi-final against Trinidad and Tobago and kept a clean sheet three days later as Colombia were beaten 2-0 in the Los Angeles Coliseum final. He was named the tournament's most valuable player of Canada's only Gold Cup, and finished with 61 caps and 263 games in goal for Ipswich Town. GK2000s

TorreenseA cleared cross dropped onto his chest in the 92nd minute against South Africa on 28 June 2026, and his half volley into the far corner gave Canada its first knockout win at a World Cup. He has won two Primeira Liga titles with Porto in 2022 and 2026, three Taças de Portugal, a Taça da Liga and three Supertaças, and was Canada Soccer's player of the year in 2023. CM2022–26

81 Julian de Guzman Hannover 96, Deportivo de A CoruñaDeportivo La Coruña's supporters voted him their player of the season in 2007/08, the year the club climbed from relegation trouble into the UEFA Cup, after a 2005 arrival that made him the first Canadian in La Liga. He was named most valuable player of the 2007 Gold Cup, Canadian player of the year in 2008, and became Toronto's first Designated Player in 2009, retiring on 89 caps, a national record he held from 2015 to 2021. 8 AJ 80 Alistair Johnston Nashville SC, CF MontréalWhen Conmebol picked its team of the 2024 Copa América, Johnston was the only player on the list who did not come from South America, chosen after Canada beat Venezuela on penalties and went out to Argentina in the semi-final. At Celtic he won a domestic treble within six months of arriving in January 2023 and now has four Scottish Premiership titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups. RB2023–24

80 Cyle Larin UConn Huskies men's soccer, Orlando City SCCanadian supporters called Commonwealth Stadium the Iceteca on 16 November 2021, and he scored both goals in the 2-1 win that ended 21 years without beating Mexico. His 32 international goals stand second only to Jonathan David, and he won the Süper Lig, Turkish Cup and Turkish Super Cup with Beşiktaş in 2021, the Belgian Super Cup with Club Brugge, and MLS Rookie of the Year in 2015 with a record 17 goals. 10 Jd 80 Jason de Vos Dundee United, Wigan AthleticWearing the armband at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on 27 February 2000, he scored on the stroke of half time against Colombia, and Canada held on to lift the Gold Cup for the first and so far only time. Beyond that title came Gold Cup bronze in 2002, Canadian player of the year the same season, Wigan's Second Division championship in 2003, and 49 caps, most of them as captain between 1999 and 2004. 80 Junior Hoilett Blackburn Rovers, Queens Park RangersTajon Buchanan's pass reached Hoilett in the 83rd minute at BMO Field on 27 March 2022 and he slid it past Andre Blake for 3-0, part of the 4-0 win over Jamaica that carried Canada to their first World Cup since 1986. He scored 12 goals in Cardiff City's 2017-18 promotion to the Premier League, won the 2014 Championship play-off final with QPR, and has 17 goals in 69 caps. LM1986–2022

80 Milan Borjan FK Rad, SivassporHe kept the United States out at Tim Hortons Field on 30 January 2022, a 2-0 win in Hamilton, the city his family settled in after leaving Knin. Borjan was Canada's goalkeeper through the qualifying campaign that ended a 36-year absence and at the 2022 World Cup, and he won six consecutive Serbian league titles with Red Star Belgrade, three Serbian Cups, two Bulgarian titles with Ludogorets and the Slovak league with Slovan. 13 PS 80 Paul Stalteri SV Werder Bremen, Tottenham HotspurOn 8 May 2004 he was Werder Bremen's right back at the Olympiastadion in Munich, where a 3-1 win over Bayern settled the Bundesliga with two matches to spare; he had scored on his first Bundesliga appearance for the club in 2000. Above the club honours sits the 2000 Gold Cup with Canada, and the 2004 double included the DFB-Pokal; his 84 caps were a national record until Julian de Guzman passed the mark in 2015. RB2000–15

80 Tomasz Radzinski Beerschot A.C., EvertonSix weeks after Manchester United put five past Anderlecht at Old Trafford, Radzinski beat Fabien Barthez twice inside 34 minutes at the Parc Astrid on 24 October 2000 and the Belgians won the return 2-1. He won Belgian championships in 2000 and 2001, was the league's top scorer in the second of them, added the 1997 Belgian Cup with Germinal Ekeren, then scored 25 Premier League goals for Everton and 10 in 46 games for Canada. 15 AB 79 Alex Bunbury Hamilton Steelers, C.S. MarítimoBermuda conceded three to him in a single World Cup qualifier on 15 November 1992, the 4-2 win matching the most goals any Canadian has scored in one international. He won the MLS Cup and Supporters' Shield with the Kansas City Wizards in 2000, still holds Marítimo's Primeira Liga scoring record with 59 goals across six seasons, took 15 goals in 66 games for Canada and was Canadian international player of the year in 1993 and 1995. 16 BL 79 Bob Lenarduzzi Reading, Vancouver Whitecaps · Hall of FameOver eleven seasons with the Vancouver Whitecaps he filled all eleven positions on the field, including forty-five minutes in goal, and left in 1984 with 312 NASL appearances, more than anyone else played in the league's history. The 1986 World Cup, Canada's only one, was the last of his 48 caps, and before it came the 1979 Soccer Bowl with Vancouver, the 1978 NASL North American Player of the Year award, and an Olympic quarter-final in 1984. 17 BW 78 Bruce Wilson Wilson played 299 NASL games, more than all but one man in the league's history, and he was still there in Mexico in 1986, wearing the armband for all three of Canada's matches at the only World Cup the country reached before Qatar. He was a seven-time NASL All-Star, the sole Canadian in CONCACAF's 1998 team of the century, and took 57 caps before both national halls of fame inducted him. LB1986–98

18 DM 78 Dale Mitchell At the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles he played every minute Canada had and scored three times, including the equaliser that dragged Brazil into extra time and penalties in the quarter-final. He helped Canada reach its first World Cup and faced the Soviet Union at Mexico 86, scored twice against Guatemala in the April 1985 qualifier, and retired holding the national record with 19 goals in 55 caps. 19 FY 78 Frank Yallop Ipswich Town, BlackpoolThirteen years at Portman Road brought 389 games for Ipswich, and in 1991-92 he played 45 of the 46 league matches that carried the club to the Second Division title and into the first Premier League season. Second Division title with Ipswich in 1992, the North American Nations Cup with Canada in 1990, 52 caps, the MLS Supporters' Shield with Tampa Bay in 1996, and two MLS Cups as San Jose's coach in 2001 and 2003. 20 JC 78 John Catliff Calgary Kickers, Vancouver WhitecapsAt Swangard Stadium on 13 May 1990, Catliff scored both goals as Canada beat Mexico 2-1, the winner landing in the 89th minute. That win sealed the 1990 North American Nations Cup; he also took five straight Canadian Soccer League titles from 1987 to 1991, led the league's scorers in 1988 with 22 goals, retired in 1994 second on Canada's all-time list with 18 goals in 45 caps, and was picked for Canada's all-time XI in 2012. 78 Jonathan Osorio SC Toronto, TorontoOsorio reached 300 appearances for Toronto FC in April 2022, the first player to get there for the club he signed for as a homegrown out of Brampton in 2013 and now captains. He was in the midfield for the 2017 treble of MLS Cup, Supporters' Shield and Canadian Championship, the first in league history, won that cup four times in all, and passed 90 caps for Canada after playing at the 2022 World Cup. 22 KM 78 Kevin McKenna Canada played him at centre forward in Pasadena on 18 January 2002 and he scored twice against Haiti, which is how a future Bundesliga centre-back ended up in the Gold Cup's Best XI. Third place at that Gold Cup, 63 caps and 11 goals for Canada with the armband in 27 of them, the 2. Bundesliga title and promotion with Köln in 2014, and induction into the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame in 2019. CB2002–19

78 Pat Onstad Toronto Blizzard, San Jose EarthquakesOnstad ended the 2006 MLS Cup by smothering Jay Heaps's penalty in Frisco, settling the first final ever decided from the spot. He won three MLS Cups with San Jose in 2003 and Houston in 2006 and 2007, the 1999 US Open Cup with Rochester, the only team from outside MLS to take it since the league began, plus two Goalkeeper of the Year awards, 60 Canada caps and a place in the 2000 Gold Cup squad. 78 Scott Arfield Falkirk, Huddersfield Town A.F.C.Fourteen minutes into Burnley's return to the Premier League, at Turf Moor on 18 August 2014, Arfield volleyed Matthew Taylor's pass past Thibaut Courtois to put Chelsea behind. He won the Scottish Premiership with Rangers in 2020-21 and the Scottish Cup in 2022, played in that season's Europa League final, went up twice with Burnley, and took 20 caps and four goals for Canada through his Toronto-born father. 25 CV 77 Carl Valentine Vancouver Whitecaps, Cleveland Force · Hall of FameIn front of 13,000 at King George V Park in St John's on 14 September 1985, his corners produced both goals in the 2-1 win over Honduras that sent Canada to their first World Cup. He played in all three games in Mexico the following summer, won the NASL Soccer Bowl with Vancouver as a rookie in 1979, took 31 Canada caps, and left a Whitecaps and 86ers appearance record of 409 games with 65 goals. 26 JB 77 Jim Brennan Bristol City, Nottingham ForestSigned in September 2006 as Toronto FC's first player and first captain, Brennan became the first Canadian to score for the club, a free kick against Columbus on 26 May 2007. A 2000 Concacaf Gold Cup winner and a 2002 bronze medallist, he also took the 2003-04 First Division title at Norwich, the 2009 Canadian Championship with Toronto, 49 caps, and induction into the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame in 2015. 27 RS 77 Randy Samuel FC Volendam, Fortuna SittardAt León on 1 June 1986 Samuel was part of the defence that kept France out until Jean-Pierre Papin scored in the 79th minute, and he played all three of Canada's matches at their first World Cup. He won the 1985 CONCACAF Championship that took Canada there and the 1990 North American Nations Cup, collected 82 caps between 1983 and 1997, and entered the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame in 2006. 28 AG 76 Ali Gerba Toronto Lynx, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SCTwo goals in eleven minutes at Gillette Stadium on 16 June 2007, one on 33 minutes and one on 44, finished Guatemala in the Gold Cup quarter-final and put Canada into the last four. Six Gold Cup goals stand as a Canadian record, 11 goals came in 23 caps between 2005 and 2011, and it started with six goals as a Montreal Impact rookie in 2000, a club record for a first-year player. 29 MS 76 Mike Sweeney Sweeney came on in the 41st minute against Hungary in Irapuato on 6 June 1986 and was sent off in the 86th, still the only Canadian dismissed at a World Cup. Canada's 1985 Concacaf Championship, which carried them to Mexico, and the 1990 North American Nations Cup sit on his record alongside the 1984 Olympics, 61 caps, a place in Canada's all-time XI in 2012 and Hall of Fame induction in 2002. Termoli Calcio 1920, CF MontréalMontreal's first professional soccer championship came on 15 October 1994, De Santis in the side that beat the Colorado Foxes 1-0 with 8,169 packed into the Complexe sportif Claude-Robillard. He won the same championship as head coach in 2004 and as technical director in 2009, played 219 games in ten seasons for the Impact, was USL First Division Coach of the Year in 2005 and took 11 caps for Canada. 31 SP 76 Samuel Piette Fortuna Düsseldorf, Deportivo FabrilHe sat through all three games in Qatar in 2022 without a minute on the pitch, Canada's first World Cup in 36 years, and said afterwards it would stay with him forever. Toronto FC's first academy graduate to sign a professional contract, in August 2010, he won the Canadian Championship in 2011 and 2012, joined West Ham United in 2015, and closed with 44 Canada caps and a goal against Cuba in the 2019 Nations League. 75 Terry Dunfield Bury, Macclesfield TownVancouver played their first MLS match on 19 March 2011 at Empire Field, and Dunfield scored the second goal of a 4-2 win over Toronto FC, the first Canadian to score for the new franchise. He won 14 caps for Canada after his debut in Venezuela in May 2010, came through the Manchester City academy from the age of 15, and played in England for Bury, Macclesfield Town and Shrewsbury Town before returning home.
