
Vancouver played their first MLS match on 19 March 2011 at Empire Field, and Dunfield scored the second goal of a 4-2 win over Toronto FC, the first Canadian to score for the new franchise. He won 14 caps for Canada after his debut in Venezuela in May 2010, came through the Manchester City academy from the age of 15, and played in England for Bury, Macclesfield Town and Shrewsbury Town before returning home.
