Signed in September 2006 as Toronto FC's first player and first captain, Brennan became the first Canadian to score for the club, a free kick against Columbus on 26 May 2007. A 2000 Concacaf Gold Cup winner and a 2002 bronze medallist, he also took the 2003-04 First Division title at Norwich, the 2009 Canadian Championship with Toronto, 49 caps, and induction into the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame in 2015.
