African Footballer of the Year in 1972, still Guinea's only winner, he added Champions Cups in 1975 and 1977 and went unbeaten through the 1976 Cup of Nations, where Guinea lost the title to Morocco by a single point.

Guinea came second in their group and fell in the quarter-final to Mali, and he went home to Hafia in Conakry afterwards before closing out his career in France at Rodez and Tours.

He played at the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations, where Guinea reached the quarter-finals, and spent two years in Belgium's top flight with Charleroi, before a stud caught his eye in a Chinese league match on 7 July 2006 and ended his career at 26.
