Three France youth teams had him before Guinea did, and his senior debut came straight into the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations on 24 January, a 1-0 defeat to Mali in Franceville. He won the Coupe Gambardella with Rennes in 2008, scored four goals in sixteen caps across the 2012 and 2015 tournaments, and stopped playing in September 2018, aged 28, on medical advice.
