Seven seasons at Niort made Bangoura a fixture in France's second division, 181 league games between 1997 and 2004 from a striker who stood 1.70 metres. He played at the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations, where Guinea reached the quarter-finals, and spent two years in Belgium's top flight with Charleroi, before a stud caught his eye in a Chinese league match on 7 July 2006 and ended his career at 26.
