At the Bernabéu on 26 October 1966 he opened the scoring from the penalty spot as Peñarol beat Real Madrid 2-0 to complete a 4-0 aggregate in the Intercontinental Cup. Rocha won two Intercontinental Cups and three Copa Libertadores with Peñarol, eight Uruguayan titles, the 1967 Copa América as its best player, the 1977 Brazilian championship with São Paulo, and played four consecutive World Cups, a Uruguayan first.
