In the Guadalajara semi-final of June 1970 Pelé sold him the dummy every highlight reel still shows, ran around him and shot wide, and Mazurkiewicz enjoyed reminding people afterwards that the ball never went in. The press of that tournament voted him its best goalkeeper anyway and put him in the All-Star Team; he had already won the 1967 Copa América and the 1966 Copa Libertadores and Intercontinental Cup with Peñarol.
