On 4 July 1965 he settled the Copa del Generalísimo final at the Bernabéu, a 65th-minute goal that beat Real Zaragoza 1-0 in front of 90,000 and gave Atlético Madrid their revenge for losing the same final a year earlier. That cup sat alongside the 1965-66 Spanish league title with Atlético, and before Madrid he had been the Segunda División's top scorer with 22 goals as Elche won promotion in 1958-59, going on to 24 top-flight goals for the club. At the Britannia on 12 December 2009 he lined up a free kick around 35 yards out and put it over everybody on 72 minutes, an equaliser at Stoke that the BBC voted its goal of the season. He holds the Honduran appearance record with 181 caps between 2003 and 2022, played at the World Cups of 2010 and 2014, won four league titles with Olimpia, and was part of the Wigan side that took the FA Cup in 2013.
