Pavón finished the 2007 Gold Cup as its leading scorer with five goals, one ahead of Landon Donovan, and was named in the team of the tournament. He remains Honduras's record scorer with 57 goals in 101 caps, played at the 2010 World Cup, won UNCAF titles in 1993 and 1995, four Honduran championships with Real España and the Mexican Clausura with Morelia in 2000. At the Britannia on 12 December 2009 he lined up a free kick around 35 yards out and put it over everybody on 72 minutes, an equaliser at Stoke that the BBC voted its goal of the season. He holds the Honduran appearance record with 181 caps between 2003 and 2022, played at the World Cups of 2010 and 2014, won four league titles with Olimpia, and was part of the Wigan side that took the FA Cup in 2013.
