The play-off that took Cameroon to Brazil was settled in Yaoundé on 17 November 2013, and he played all ninety minutes of the 4-1 win over Tunisia in front of his own crowd. The first Cameroonian to play for Ajax, he won the Eredivisie in 2011 and 2012 and the KNVB Cup in 2010, added the Belgian Cup with Standard Liège in 2016, and finished with 51 caps and two World Cups.
