A looping finish in the 117th minute at Elland Road on 28 October 2003 put Manchester United through a League Cup tie against Leeds 3-2. Djemba-Djemba had won the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon at 20, reached the 2003 Confederations Cup final, and in his first season at Old Trafford collected the FA Cup and the Community Shield he made his debut in.
