Three headers in one match against Swansea on 14 December 2016 made him a Premier League hat-trick scorer, and only the second man to do it with his head alone. He is Venezuela's record scorer with 50 goals in 122 caps, won the Russian league with Zenit in 2015, the Argentine title with River Plate in 2023 and the CONCACAF Champions Cup with Pachuca in 2024 as its top scorer. Between 2008 and 2025 he answered the call 143 times, more than anyone else in Venezuelan football, and the nickname stuck: El General, the man who held the ground in front of the back four.
