In 2018 he scored 31 goals in the MLS regular season and broke the league record of 27 in only his 26th match. He took the Golden Boot, the league MVP award and the MLS Cup final MVP as Atlanta United won the title in only their second season, added the 2023 Leagues Cup with Inter Miami, and scored 15 goals in 70 caps for Venezuela. Between 2008 and 2025 he answered the call 143 times, more than anyone else in Venezuelan football, and the nickname stuck: El General, the man who held the ground in front of the back four.
