In Riffa on 16 November 2005, with Trinidad and Tobago 90 minutes from a first World Cup, the 6ft 7in defender scored the only goal of the night against Bahrain in the 49th minute. Every minute of the 2006 finals in Germany followed, including the goalless draw with Sweden, along with the 2001 Caribbean Cup and its MVP award, the Football League Trophy with Wrexham in 2005, and 89 caps. Easter Road called him the Little Magician, and in 1998-99 he made the name stick, running Hibernian out of the First Division as champions and taking the division's player of the year award. He had already won back-to-back Portuguese titles with Porto in 1995 and 1996, becoming the first Trinidadian in the Champions League, then a Portuguese Cup with Boavista, and he closed with 81 caps, 29 goals and a place at the 2006 World Cup.
