In Riffa on 16 November 2005, with Trinidad and Tobago 90 minutes from a first World Cup, the 6ft 7in defender scored the only goal of the night against Bahrain in the 49th minute. Every minute of the 2006 finals in Germany followed, including the goalless draw with Sweden, along with the 2001 Caribbean Cup and its MVP award, the Football League Trophy with Wrexham in 2005, and 89 caps. Twenty-four goals in League One in 2007-08 made him the division's top scorer and carried Swansea up as champions, one half of a two-season stay that brought 45 goals in 90 appearances. Two PFA Team of the Year selections followed, for 2007-08 and 2008-09, after a Scottish First Division golden boot with St Johnstone in 2005-06, and for Trinidad and Tobago he took 41 caps, eight goals and a place in the 2006 World Cup squad.
