Al Sadd's terraces called him Khalfaninho, and in November 2006, aged eighteen, he became the first Qatari named AFC Player of the Year, months before a knee injury against Bahrain took a year out of him. Ibrahim won gold at the 2006 Asian Games, lifted the 2011 AFC Champions League with Al Sadd, and left the club as its record league scorer with 78 goals in 298 appearances.
