Persepolis signed him in January 2024, making him the first Qatari to play professionally in Iran after twelve years at Al Sadd. Hassan was AFC Player of the Year in 2018, won the 2019 Asian Cup and made its Team of the Tournament, took the 2011 AFC Champions League and four Qatar Stars League titles with Al Sadd, and won 136 caps for Qatar. Al Sadd's terraces called him Khalfaninho, and in November 2006, aged eighteen, he became the first Qatari named AFC Player of the Year, months before a knee injury against Bahrain took a year out of him. Ibrahim won gold at the 2006 Asian Games, lifted the 2011 AFC Champions League with Al Sadd, and left the club as its record league scorer with 78 goals in 298 appearances.
