Al Sadd's terraces called him Khalfaninho, and in November 2006, aged eighteen, he became the first Qatari named AFC Player of the Year, months before a knee injury against Bahrain took a year out of him. Ibrahim won gold at the 2006 Asian Games, lifted the 2011 AFC Champions League with Al Sadd, and left the club as its record league scorer with 78 goals in 298 appearances. At the 1992 Gulf Cup he finished as top scorer and was voted player of the tournament, and thirteen years later he carried Al-Khor to their first major trophy in 46 years. Mustafa scored 41 goals in 106 internationals between 1992 and 2004, won the 1998 Arab Nations Cup, reached the Barcelona Olympic quarter-finals with Qatar, led the domestic scoring charts three times, and left international football without a single red card.
