UNESCO honoured him in 1992 for more than 750 matches without a single red card, most of them in seventeen years at Raja Casablanca, where he was simply Maestro. He played every game of Morocco's 1976 Africa Cup of Nations win, the country's only continental title until 2025, and every minute of the 1986 World Cup, when Morocco finished above England and Portugal and became the first African side in the last 16; three Throne Cups came at Raja. Six minutes into the second leg at the Bernabéu on 5 March 2019, Ziyech swept Ajax ahead of the holders, and by full time Real Madrid had lost 4-1 at home and their three-year hold on Europe was over. He won the Champions League and Club World Cup with Chelsea in 2021, the Eredivisie and Dutch Cup double with Ajax in 2019, back-to-back Süper Lig titles with Galatasaray, and led the Eredivisie for assists four times. Career record: 64 caps and 25 goals for Morocco; club career at FC Twente, AFC Ajax, Chelsea; honours include national Player of the Year 2018, Hall of Fame 2022.
