UNESCO honoured him in 1992 for more than 750 matches without a single red card, most of them in seventeen years at Raja Casablanca, where he was simply Maestro. He played every game of Morocco's 1976 Africa Cup of Nations win, the country's only continental title until 2025, and every minute of the 1986 World Cup, when Morocco finished above England and Portugal and became the first African side in the last 16; three Throne Cups came at Raja. Career record: 140 caps and 8 goals for Morocco; club career at Raja Club Athletic, Club Olympique de Casablanca.
