Before the squad flew to West Germany in 1974, Pinochet came down the line at the send-off and Caszely kept his hand behind his back, one of the first public refusals the dictator faced. He was top scorer of the 1973 Copa Libertadores as Colo-Colo reached their first final, won five Chilean league titles and three domestic cups, and at that World Cup became the first player shown a red card in the tournament's history. Career record: 49 caps and 29 goals for Chile; club career at Club Social y Deportivo Colo Colo, Levante UD, RCD Espanyol de Barcelona.

When Ronaldo arrived at Inter in 1997 and took the number 9, Zamorano would not give it up and wore 1+8 instead, taped on at first until the kit maker began printing it. The Pichichi came in 1995 with 28 goals as Real Madrid took La Liga, he opened the scoring in Inter's 3-0 UEFA Cup final win over Lazio in 1998, and he finished the Sydney Olympics as top scorer with six goals while Chile took bronze.
