When Ronaldo arrived at Inter in 1997 and took the number 9, Zamorano would not give it up and wore 1+8 instead, taped on at first until the kit maker began printing it. The Pichichi came in 1995 with 28 goals as Real Madrid took La Liga, he opened the scoring in Inter's 3-0 UEFA Cup final win over Lazio in 1998, and he finished the Sydney Olympics as top scorer with six goals while Chile took bronze. His free kick from the left in the 1962 quarter-final at Arica lifted over the wall and dropped past Lev Yashin, and the Soviet Union were out of the World Cup. Four goals made him a joint top scorer of that tournament, the only Chilean to top a World Cup scoring list, and he finished third on home soil, won six Chilean titles with the Ballet Azul at Universidad de Chile and held the caps record for decades.
