Two minutes into the second half on 16 February 2010, Makoun picked the ball up deep, ran at a retreating Real Madrid defence and dipped his shot over Iker Casillas to win it 1-0 for Lyon. He played 68 times for Cameroon and scored ten, finished runner-up at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, won the Greek league and cup with Olympiacos in 2012, and lifted the Intertoto Cup with Lille in 2004.
