His goal at the Azteca on 1 August 1971 was half of the 2-0 that beat Toluca in the second leg of the final and gave América the title in his first season out of Audax Italiano. He won two Mexican championships with América in 1970-71 and 1975-76, the CONCACAF Champions' Cup and Interamerican Cup in 1977, the Copa México in 1974, and went to the 1974 World Cup with Chile after 364 games for the club.
