Twenty-four minutes into Roma's last-16 tie with Real Madrid in February 2008, his shot deflected past Iker Casillas for the equaliser in a 2-1 win, and Roma went on to take both legs and put Madrid out. He won the 2015 Copa América with Chile, their first, took Serie A with Inter in 2006 and three Coppa Italia titles between 2006 and 2008, and collected Olympic bronze in Sydney in 2000 across 46 caps.
