Few goalkeepers get on the scoresheet against Argentina, and he did it from a direct free kick in qualifying for the 1998 World Cup, the one goal he scored in 56 games for Venezuela. He gave four seasons and 142 league games to Deportivo Cali, played across Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina and South Africa, and later coached Venezuela's under-20 side to the 2017 World Cup final.
