A centre-back who kept arriving in the wrong box, he scored both goals against Jordan in the WAFF Championship final in Doha in January 2014, at 52 and 81 minutes, and ended the tournament as top scorer with six. He won the Asian Cup twice, in 2019 and 2023, added the 2014 Arabian Gulf Cup, made the 2019 Team of the Tournament, and stands past 130 caps and 21 goals for Qatar with league titles at Al Sadd.
