Before the squad flew to West Germany in 1974, Pinochet came down the line at the send-off and Caszely kept his hand behind his back, one of the first public refusals the dictator faced. He was top scorer of the 1973 Copa Libertadores as Colo-Colo reached their first final, won five Chilean league titles and three domestic cups, and at that World Cup became the first player shown a red card in the tournament's history. Career record: 49 caps and 29 goals for Chile; club career at Club Social y Deportivo Colo Colo, Levante UD, RCD Espanyol de Barcelona.

Casillas punched Alexis Sánchez's free kick straight out at the Maracanã on 18 June 2014, and Aránguiz drove the rebound in for 2-0, the goal that sent the holders Spain home. Two Copa América titles followed with Chile in 2015 and 2016, and before them came the 2011 Copa Sudamericana with Universidad de Chile, the club's first international trophy, alongside two Chilean championships in the same year and eight seasons at Bayer Leverkusen.
