Canada reached the 2000 Gold Cup knockouts on a coin toss, then Forrest pushed away a first-half penalty in the 1-0 semi-final against Trinidad and Tobago and kept a clean sheet three days later as Colombia were beaten 2-0 in the Los Angeles Coliseum final. He was named the tournament's most valuable player of Canada's only Gold Cup, and finished with 61 caps and 263 games in goal for Ipswich Town. A cleared cross dropped onto his chest in the 92nd minute against South Africa on 28 June 2026, and his half volley into the far corner gave Canada its first knockout win at a World Cup. He has won two Primeira Liga titles with Porto in 2022 and 2026, three Taças de Portugal, a Taça da Liga and three Supertaças, and was Canada Soccer's player of the year in 2023.
