Arriving at Dynamo Kyiv in 1999, he scored 97 league goals for them over a decade and left the Ukrainian top flight tied with Serhii Rebrov as its all-time leading scorer on 123. Six Ukrainian championships and five cups came with that, along with two seasons as league top scorer, four Uzbek Footballer of the Year awards, and 34 goals in 61 caps that carried Uzbekistan to fourth place at the 2011 Asian Cup.
