Twice he beat South Korea's goalkeeper in the 2011 Asian Cup third place match on 28 January, a penalty on the stroke of half time and a second eight minutes after the break, and Uzbekistan still went down 3-2. Fourth place in Qatar remains the country's best Asian Cup; he finished on 98 caps and 31 goals, won league titles with Pakhtakor and the Kazakh championship with Aktobe in 2013, and was Uzbek Footballer of the Year in 2002.
