On 6 February 2022 in Yaoundé he played all 120 minutes at left back as Senegal and Egypt finished goalless, then watched Sadio Mané convert the kick that settled the shootout 4-2. That night handed Senegal the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in their history, and CAF put Ciss in the Team of the Tournament, the high point of a 39-cap career running from 2012 to 2022.
