Less than a year after his first Senegal cap he came off the bench in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final against Burkina Faso, still a Metz loanee, and finished the tournament a champion. That title was Senegal's first, and he has since played a World Cup, taken CAF's young player of the year award for 2022, and won the 2025 Europa League with Tottenham, where his pass set up Brennan Johnson's winner in the final.
