Al Ahly had him for seventeen seasons, 1953 to 1970, and Egypt had him for the first four editions of the Africa Cup of Nations, back when the 1957 tournament in Khartoum ran to three teams. He won two of them, in 1957 and 1959, and was runner-up in 1962, alongside seven Egyptian league titles, 56 caps with 13 goals, and fourth place at the Tokyo Olympics in 1964.
