Known for he holds the national appearance record (criterion 3), has more AFCON titles than any player on this list (criterion 1) and was twice named the tournament's best player (criterion 4). His omission is the single largest error across all thirteen squads. Biggest achievements: Egypt's all-time most capped player with 184 caps, a world record for any national team when he retired; four AFCON titles in 1998, 2006, 2008 and 2010; best player of the tournament in both 2006 and 2010.
