He was nineteen at the 1994 World Cup and played every minute of Cameroon's three group games, against Sweden, Brazil and Russia, holding the back line together after seventeen-year-old Rigobert Song was sent off at Stanford. Three World Cups came in all, 1994, 1998 and 2002, and two Africa Cup of Nations titles, in Nigeria in 2000 and in Mali in 2002, the second of them settled by a shootout against Senegal. Career record: 63 caps and 2 goals for Cameroon; club career at Panachaiki, CF Extremadura, VfL Bochum.
