Six goals in the 2006 Copa Sudamericana carried Colo-Colo to a final against Pachuca, and he was twenty years old for the whole of that run, taking the free kicks himself. Voted South American Footballer of the Year for that season, he won the 2015 Copa América and took one of the penalties in the shootout against Argentina, played the 2010 World Cup and finished on 74 caps.
