He scored four against Mexico at Levi's Stadium on 18 June 2016, the night Chile won a Copa América quarter-final 7-0, and a year earlier he had scored both goals in the 2-1 semi-final against Peru. Chile won both those tournaments, 2015 and 2016, and he shared the first Golden Boot with four before taking the second outright with six; he was also player of the 2011 Copa Sudamericana and sits second on Chile's all-time list with 45 goals.
