In the 71st minute against Morocco on 1 December 2022, Hutchinson, at 39 the oldest outfield player in Qatar, met a corner and saw his header come off the crossbar and drop just short of the line. He retired with 104 caps, a Canadian men's record, six Canadian Player of the Year awards, four Danish titles at Copenhagen, three Süper Lig titles at Beşiktaş and a KNVB Cup at PSV.
