
At the Metropolitano de Mérida on 6 September 2016 he opened the scoring against Argentina, and Venezuela held on for a 2-2 draw in World Cup qualifying. It stayed his only international goal across close to 30 caps that took in the 2016 Centenario and the 2019 Copa América, and at Málaga he reached 146 appearances and 11 goals in seven seasons, the first of them in La Liga an equaliser against Barcelona in January 2016.
