Born in Caracas to Galician parents and raised in Spain from age eight, he took Venezuela's call on 2 September 2011 and came on in the 86th minute against Argentina. Sixteen caps and the 2015 Copa América followed, plus four Thai League titles at Buriram United between 2014 and 2018, the 2015 FA Cup, League Cups in 2015 and 2016, and a fifth championship with BG Pathum in 2020-21 that put him in the league's Best XI.
