Born across the border in Sayram, Kazakhstan, Utkir Yusupov was 27 before Uzbekistan handed him a first cap in 2018, and he has taken more than 40 since. He was in the squad that won the 2025 CAFA Nations Cup and the one that reached the 2026 World Cup, Uzbekistan's first, and he was named in the Super League Team of the Season in 2021 and 2022 with Navbahor before two seasons at Foolad in Iran.
