Spain won a penalty in Johannesburg on 3 July 2010, and when the referee ordered it retaken Villar pushed Xabi Alonso's second attempt away to keep Paraguay level in the only World Cup quarter-final they have reached. He took the Golden Glove at the 2011 Copa América with three clean sheets as Paraguay reached the final, won 120 caps across three World Cups, and lifted league titles with Libertad, Newell's Old Boys and Colo-Colo.
