Before 93,420 at the Rose Bowl on 25 June 2011 he escaped Tim Howard's hands three times and chipped the ball over Eric Lichaj on the line, the goal that sealed Mexico's 4-2 Gold Cup final win over the United States. That was one of three Gold Cups he won (2009, 2011, 2015), alongside the 2009 Golden Ball, Olympic gold at London 2012, the Under-17 World Cup in 2005 and 106 Mexico caps with 19 goals.
