Three seasons running, from 1993-94 to 1995-96, nobody in Mexico outscored him, and the middle of those brought 35 league goals in a Cruz Azul shirt. He won seven Mexican league titles, five with América and one each at Cruz Azul in 1997 and Necaxa in 1998, and retired as the club's all-time leading scorer, with 90 caps, 34 goals for Mexico and the 1986 and 1994 World Cups behind him.
