Twenty-eight goals in forty games for Seongnam in 2003 took him the K League scoring title and the MVP award in the same season the club were champions, and he had already led the scorers in 2000. He scored 30 goals in 72 games for Korea, played at the 1998 World Cup, won the 2003 East Asian Championship, was top scorer in the 2004 AFC Champions League, and later coached Ulsan to the 2020 continental title against Persepolis.
