On 22 November 2014 he became the oldest man ever to play a K League match, at 44 years and seven months, and he carried on until retiring at 46. He holds the K League records for appearances and clean sheets, won the 1996 title with Ulsan and three League Cups, played every group game at the 1998 World Cup, was in the squad that finished fourth in 2002, and joined the K League Hall of Fame in 2025.
