The inside left played in both of Italy's winning World Cup finals, against Czechoslovakia in Rome in 1934 and Hungary in Paris four years later, feeding the forwards from the left channel in the role Italians call the mezzala. He is one of only three Italians to have won two World Cups, and his eight Serie A titles, five during Juventus's run in the early 1930s, stood as a record for 77 years.
