Ghana knew him as Olele, and on 26 June 2010 in Rustenburg he was voted man of the match after keeping the United States out long enough for Asamoah Gyan to win it in extra time. The run ended against Uruguay in the quarter-final, only the third time an African side had gone that far, and he collected a Nations Cup runner-up medal in 2010, third place in 2008, the team of the tournament in both, and 93 caps.
